FNAR 378: Baroque Art (AICE) explores the visual culture of seventeenth-century Europe, the first global art style shared throughout Italy, Spain, France, Flanders and Holland. This course will be taught on campus in Spring 2020. FNAR 395 SA: Baroque Art Study Abroad is an optional 1 credit lab taken over spring break that would allow students enrolled in FNAR 378 (or who have previously taken it) to see firsthand the work of five of the most important artists of the Baroque period from three different countries: • Gianlorenzo Bernini (sculptor) and Caravaggio (painter) in Rome, Italy • Peter Paul Rubens (painter) in Antwerp, Belgium • Johannes Vermeer (painter) and Rembrandt van Rijn (printmaker and painter) in Holland, the Netherlands.
