Resources for Diversity and Inclusion While Abroad The Study Abroad Office team at Christopher Newport values diversity and inclusion of all students and wants to support you throughout your journey from finding a program, application, on-site support, to returning to campus. Please let us know if you have any questions throughout your journey. We are here to support you! There are many resources available as you begin your study abroad journey. There are blogs, articles, websites, and scholarship available to support you. GoAbroad.com articles: There may be additional funding opportunities through both CNU scholarships as well as national scholarships. CNU Scholarships: Captains Abroad Scholarship & BOV Scholarship Program Specific Scholarship: Many programs have a Diversity, Inclusion, Student of Color, First Generation, LGBTQI+, STEM, Student Athlete, Merit, and/or Location-Specific scholarships. These can be anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. Make sure to check the eligibility before applying and apply to as many scholarships as you qualify for. Contact Ebony Majeed, ebony.majeed@cnu.edu, in the CNU Study Abroad Office to have help navigating the program scholarship website. National Scholarships: Benjamin Gilman Scholarship is for students receiving the Pell Grant and supports students who have been historically underrepresented in study abroad, including but not limited to, first-generation college students, students in STEM fields, racial and ethnic minority students, students with disabilities and more. Fund for Education Abroad is a scholarship fund with different categories for application. Please visit this site early as deadlines can be early in the application cycle.
