CNU International Photo Contest

Eligibility: The CNU International Photo Contest is open to all CNU students, faculty and staff who have recently studied, traveled, volunteered or worked abroad.

Submission Deadline: Photos and entry forms must be submitted via email by midnight on Friday, March 1st 2019. You may enter up to 3 photos.

Contest: Students photos will be judged in a separate category from Faculty and Staff. We have two categories:

  • Student Involvement and Interaction
    • A student or groups of students should be in the photo
    • Students can be interacting with the local culture or posing
  • Artistic and Cultural Expression
    • This category includes landscapes, local culture, food, etc.
    • This is a more open category for photos without students in the photo

Submitting Photos: All entries must be sent via email to studyabroad@cnu.edu with the subject “Photo Contest Entry." Please send photos as attachments and not in the body of the email.  Send photos in the largest file size format (actual size). The following information must be included in the email for each photo:

  • Name (you must be in the photo or be the photographer, please indicate one)
  • Category: Student Involvement and Interaction or Artistic and Cultural Expression
  • Title of Photo (and file name if different than your title)
  • City and country where photo was taken
  • Name of Program (if attending a study abroad or CNU sponsored program)
  • Short description of photograph (ex. why you like the photo, photo details, etc)

Student Prizes:

  • 1st place: $100* (Selected by Judges) for Student Involvement and Interaction
  • 1st place: $100* (Selected by Judges) for Artistic and Cultural Expression
  • 2nd place: $30* (Selected by Judges) for Student Involvement and Interaction
  • 2nd place: $30* (Selected by Judges) for Artistic and Cultural Expression
  • People’s Choice: $50* (Selected by online Facebook votes counted by “likes”)
Faculty & Staff Prizes: 
  • Faculty or Staff winners will receive a gift from the Study Abroad Office

*All cash prize winners must file a W-9 form before receiving check.

Judging: A panel including CNU students, faculty and staff will be appointed by the study abroad office as judges and will review all entries. 1st and 2nd place will be selected and revealed after Spring Break!

People’s Choice Award: Judging will take place online on Facebook. The photo with the most “likes” wins the People’s Choice Award. Online voting will end on Wednesday, March 20th at 5 p.m.

Winners Announced: Winners will be announced in late March!

Photo Contest Criteria, Guidelines and Disclaimer:

  • All entries submitted will be considered for public viewing in a number of places, including the CNU website, Facebook, promotional materials, and in slide shows at CNU events
  • Photos must be recent and should have been taken during the time of enrollment at CNU
  • Photos should be appropriate for sharing with the CNU Community and permission from people in the photo should be given prior to entering.
  • Photos that do not print correctly due to small file size will be eliminated
  • Individuals can submit a maximum of three (3) photos
  • Be aware of the legal limitations when using published material that belongs to others
  • Submissions must be original work. They should not have been entered in any previous CNU Photo Contests and should not be the recipient of a previous award in any contest.
