Students must have a 3.0 GPA in the MAT program from summer term to be considered for this fall semester course.

* This study abroad experience is only open to graduate students enrolled in the fifth or professional year of the Teacher Preparation Program.

Students enrolled in this 3-credit course attend classes in the fall and do comparative research into educational practices in Central America and the United States. The course culminates in a two-week study abroad experience in January in which students are places with practicing teachers in of the three schools (two primary and one high school) in San Pedro, Belize. The course focus is on comparative educational practices, as well as on appreciating and understanding multiculturalism and diversity, particularly as it relates to the education field.
