Citizen-Explorer: Cultural Competence for the Global World

mid-June to mid-July

ANTH/SOCL 325: Food and Culture (3 credits)
Through this course, students will gain an appreciation for the role food plays in culture. The course will survey the centrality of food to state and household-level politics, social differentiation, gender, ethnicity, and community relationships. In class lectures and discussions will be supplemented with visits to Belgian food markets and restaurants. Fulfills the AIGM requirement.

COMM 340: Intercultural Communication (3 credits)
This course examines the role that communication plays in an
international setting. Specifically, it will examine the challenges of
intercultural communication with a focus on political,
organizational, and relational implications of communicating on the world stage. Fulfills the AIGM requirement.

Note: Students must take both courses. Majors may use these courses to satisfy major requirements.
